O2 sensor error codes/software update

hello,
I have a K24A2-swapped 02 base auto RSX, TSX'09 intake cam, Injen cold air intake with RSP intake manifold, PLM header, Invidia catback, 05-06 RSX PND ECU, engine harness was repinned to match 05-06 pinout, KTuner rev0.

several days ago I got some error codes caused by bad O2 sensor - P1172 and P2A00. my O2 sensor is just six months old (I bought it brand new when I installed KTuner) and it's strange that it failed so quickly.

I searched for similar problems online and found a related Technical Service Bulletin -
Engine Controls - MIL ON/DTC's P1172 or P2A00
07-019 April 12, 2007

Applies To:
2005-06 RSX - ALL

MIL Is On With DTC P1172 or P2A00

SYMPTOM
The MIL is on with PGM-FI DTC P1172 (air fuel sensor [sensor 1] circuit out of range, high) and/or P2A00 (air fuel sensor [sensor 1] circuit range/performance problem) stored.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The air/fuel sensor is damaged by moisture in the exhaust system during engine warm up.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS.
Replace the air/fuel sensor.
NOTE: The PGM-FI software has been changed to delay the operation of the A/F sensor heater when there is a high probability of moisture in the exhaust system.

PARTS INFORMATION
Air/Fuel Sensor:
Base model with M/T: P/N 36531-PND-A21
Base model with A/T: P/N 36531-PNE-003
Type-S: P/N 36531-PRB-A11

SOFTWARE INFORMATION
HDS Software Version: 2.006.019 (blue) or later.

this seems like my issue.
I guess that I can't go to dealer and check for an update, because this will overwrite my current tune?
If so, my question is - is this fix included in KTuner base code?

thank you.

The dealer would overwrite KTuner.

I'll look into the settings, but I don't think any changes will prevent this from happening again if you have excessive moisture in the exhaust that far up.

maybe this excessive moisture is caused by low ambient temps, right now it's below 0 degrees F...
delaying the A/F sensor heater operation until the exhaust warms up a bit seems like a good solution.

thank you, please keep me updated if any news comes up.

Will do. I think you're overestimating how long they'd delay operation.

btw, there is a similar TSB for Civic/CR-V/Accord/Fit/S2000, 2005-2007 model years - http://ww2.justanswer.de/uploads/hybrid ... _p1172.pdf

I've replaced front O2 sensor with Denso 234-9064 (CR-V/Element/05-06 RSX), it worked fine for one week and now i got MIL with code P1172 again, without P2A00 this time :?

I've taken my RSX to dealer, they can't seem to find what the problem is, because HDS is not showing any parameters related to front O2 sensor (sensor current/heater state/etc), by not showing I mean that they are missing from parameters list

maybe I should upload stock calibration for my ECU and try to visit dealer again?

One week? That sounds like you have a bigger issue.

The data for the sensor won't show up if you've disabled the sensor, which I hope you haven't done. Otherwise it will.

You can upload stock calibration if you want as long as your immobilizer is sync'd to the ECU. It won't run otherwise.

maybe. my exhaust hits the frame sometimes when driving in reverse gear, I guess that previous sensor was damaged because of this.

nevermind, replaced the sensor again, it works fine :)

Interesting. Keep me posted if the same thing occurs, though.
