06 RSX Reflash Rev Hang

Post by jahong16 »

So, I have a 2006 RSX-S and just recently installed the new KTuner End-User Board Revision 1. I purchased a used PRB ECU and had it send in to have the KTuner End-User installed. I wanted to keep my stock one for smog purposes. After I installed it on the car, I reflashed it with the 05-06 RSX Type-S reflash #2 (I/H/E). I am running a Top Fuel Intake and Exhaust with a Jackson Racing Race Header. After the reflashed the KTuner ECU with the #2 reflash, I had an idle problem where it was idling a little high, about 1100-1200 rpms and I had a like rev hang symptom. I did the idle relearn process and it brought down the idle to about where it is suppose to be but still experiencing the rev hang. So with the rev hang, when driving on the street, after I put the gear into neutral and coast to the red light, the rpms will stay at the rpm that it was at when I put it into neutral and will slowly drop down to idle but will not drop all the way until I come to a complete stop. So when I am moving and with the car in neutral, the rpms will hang at around 3000 and slowly drop until I am at a complete stop. I plugged in my stock ECU and both the idle and rev hang problems went away. I tried the stock basemap on the KTuner ECU and experienced the same rev hang but at a lower rpm. After putting the car into neutral and moving, the rpms drop to 2000 rpms and will stay there until I come to a complete stop and then it will drop down to idle. So, I am wondering what this could be and if there is a way to fix it. Maybe I did the idle relearn incorrectly, is this problem fixable in the tuning software by a setting, or maybe my used ECU was defective before I send it in to have the KTuner installed? Please let me know what you think as I am unexperienced with tuning and its software and would like to understand. Thanks.

For things to check make sure your TPS is reading 0 when closed. If it's not then calibrate the zero point within the software and reflash to lock it in.

You can also reduce the time before fuel cut occurs in the fuel cut settings area of the main parameters.

Okay, thank you for the advice. I did read somewhere, I think on ClubRSX that a tps calibration might help. I'm pretty sure it does not read 0 when closed. I think it reads around 5-6. I will try to zero it out. I will also look into your other suggestion. Thanks for the advice, I'll update my results.

*Edit: Is calibrating the TPS to "0" pretty straight forward? I haven't tried it in the software yet.

Just click the button while connected with your calibration open. If it sets it to 0 you'll want to flash the calibration in to retain the calibration. If it's not under .5 it assumes you're not trying to idle.

So got the problem fixed, turned out it was the TPS. When it was fully closed, it was reading 6%. I calibrated it back down to 0% and everything runs perfect. Thanks again for the help. Excited to be KTuned and Supercharged in the next few months.
